CHARACTERIZATION OF EMG DATA

Abstract:
From 2002 to 2005, 715 uterine EMG records from 733 pregnancies were collected. Various clinical information on the condition of the pregnancies were also acquired. We recently developed tools to assess the quality of the records and to organize the accompanying data for further analysis. A relational database containing all of the data was created using Postgress software. We implemented and tested existing linear techniques for analysis of the signals in time- and frequency-domain such as computing of the root mean square value and computing of the median frequency of the power spectra. We also tested selected non-linear techniques such as computing of the maximal Lyapunov exponent and computing of the correlation dimension of the signals. We characterized the records
with regard to the total time of gestation, the time of gestation during the record acquisition, and the time from the record acquisition until the birth
